Who's numbers ???

Star Spec - $500
RE-11's - $676
S02's - $750

Tire Rack sells the RE-11's for $890.a set, not including shipping & mounting........

I got the RE-11's from my local Firestone Dealership, for $875. a set, mounted...and a lifetime balance, included....Sorry...NO road hazard avail, on them
That was Tire Rack's prices..... but for AP1..... 16"!

You could have got the Hankook RS-3s for $444 a set (205/55/16 225/50/16). I'd still be leary of any rears that aren't OEM - the S2000 SO-2s are more like a 245 which is a much better balance on AP1 16s. 245/50/16s are really hard to find now.

Lovin' the RS-3s on my 17" Volks now.

I asked that question of Jim at Tire Rack and he verified that the RE-11 are the proper width. If one looks at their web site about the tread width that seems to be true. If one checks the specs one will find that RE-11's have the same shoulder to shoulder width as the S-02's. But your point is well taken. Back in 2004 I picked up a set of Dunlop M-2 Winter tires mounted on OEM AP-1 wheels from someone that was "fire saling" them. They are about an inch narrower than the stock size. Fortunately for "snow" tires that is desirable.

I looked at the RE-11's but decided on the Bridgestone S04 Pole Position's.

I have had them on my car for about 1,000 miles and they are a great tire. No problem with grip in the dry or in the wet. I don't push the car when it is wet but I feel more confident with these on the S than I did with the OEM's.

Matt, I have the RE 01Rs, which I think is the predacessor to the RE11. Not really sure about that, but in any event, the RE 01Rs are superior to the S02s.

If this is true..... would you get the same tire size as the S02 or try for a little wider if available?

I also didn't realize the Star Specs were available for the AP1.....

Star Spec - $500
RE-11's - $676
S02's - $750

I had the same conern about width as the RE01Rs are about 1/4 inch narrower than the rear S02s. I was worried about nothing. The RE01rs stick better regardless of the slight difference.

I started out on my 07 S2000 with the stock Bridgestone REO50's (215/45/17f, 245/40/17r). Upgraded to the RE-01R's (225/45/17f, 255/40/17r). Much better than the stock tires. Bought some ENKEI RPF1's and put the RE-11's (225/45/17f, 255/40/17r) on those. Traded my stock S2000 rims and the RE-01R's for a set of TR Motorsports F3's with Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08's (215/45/17f, 245/40/17r). Very good, almost great tires.
My personal favorite is the RE-11's.
