I guess it's fun to pretend that we 50- and 60- somethings are the Mustang/Camaro "target market", but I doubt that it's in their plan. Not sure that I see Legal Bill or most of us in those cars....nor a Dodge Challenger. Those of us who still have their S are spoiled by being "connected to the road"

Me....still waiting for the next "S2000" ragtop= basic fun, 6 speed, hew electronic geegaws, less than $50k.

Yeah, I might be waiting a while....

I'm thinking that 2016 might be the year for me. Hey, maybe LB and I can get a "package deal"

Speak for yourself Jerry. I'm real tempted to test drive them. We had a '68 Camaro that we liked. My dad had a Mustang and I logged a lot of miles in a buddies Mustang back in the day. Now that they have stepped up to the plate and improved the handling so much (according to reports) they might be a fun ride.

The new Mustang sounds great. Lots of big suspension improvements over the last generation car at both ends. I could see myself in the GT as my daily driver. Then I replace the S2000 with a Vette and I've done my bit to help the US auto industry. There was a great comparison of the new Vette, the BME M4 and the Boxster S in the current issue of R&T. The Vette came out on top in both the numbers and the subjective driving experience. There really are a lot of great cars to pick from and I am still a long way from making up my mind.

The bottom line is, I'm very lucky to have all these great choices available and the means to buy those that I like.

This would satisfy the 'boy racer' left in me. . . but I think the Mustang might come in at a more reasonable price.

UDI TO PRODUCE STREET CAR BASED ON R8 LMS RACE CAR
MOST POWERFUL R8 TO HAVE LIMITED PRODUCTION OF 60 UNITS, AVAILABLE IN U.S.

" Audi is giving race fans the opportunity to take home a new car based on the GT Daytona class winner of the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season-ending Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda.

The Audi R8 competition – which will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month – is based on the Audi R8 LMS that also won its class in the 2013 Rolex 24 At Daytona and Nurburgring 24 Hours.

Paul Miller Racing – one of three TUDOR Championship teams to field the R8 LMS – won the 2014 finale at Road Atlanta with drivers Bryce Miller, Wolf Henzler and Matt Bell. Alex Job Racing won the 2013 Rolex 24 with drivers Dion von Moltke, Filipe Albuquerque, Edoardo Mortara and Oliver Jarvis.

The Audi R8 competition redefines the iconic R8 as the pinnacle of Audi performance with 570 horsepower and racing-inspired, lightweight matte carbon elements, sharing 52 percent of its components with the R8 LMS race car.

“The limited-edition Audi R8 competition is the closest road car to our R8 LMS ultra race car that has won virtually every race around the world,” said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America. “It is designed for the driving enthusiast and we’re excited to bring 60 units as a limited edition to the U.S.”

The high-performance R8 competition features a 5.2L V10 mated exclusively to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a sport exhaust system with black high-gloss tailpipes. This combination results in a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph, making it the fastest R8 ever offered.

The R8 competition shares the same naturally aspirated V10 FSI engine as the Audi R8 LMS race car. The award-winning GT engine represents the pinnacle of durability, requiring its first major service after approximately 13,000 miles under race conditions or approximately one full race season.

A total of 60 units will be produced at the R8 production facility in Neckarsulm, Germany. Customers may begin ordering the Audi R8 competition as of early November with deliveries expected as of the beginning of 2015."

Car and Driver did a comparisson with the comparably priced Camaro and Challenger thingy. All three cars had similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. The Mustang comes on stronger at high speeds. Handling was close for the Camaro and Mustang and the Challenger lagged way behind. The Mustang came out on top as a daily driver. I think that is what Ford was shooting for. A car that is a great drive and not just a numbers generator. Well, it is still on my list.

Bill, wait a couple years and the list will change... maybe something exciting will come along...

didn't see anything on your list I would jump up an buy today.. had the vette before the S.. it just wasn't everything I felt i thought it was.. felt like driving a sofa..

my mustang and trans am were fun.. always had someone who needed a ride and the back seats got used.. only once has the S, needed a back seat.. and.. well.. it doesn't have one, so, whew....

not an suv fan either..

my bmw stories are nightmares, audi no different... your bmw could last 10 more.. i find them dated, but an old 2002.. i'd have to think about that... go figure... soft spot / soft head..

looking now for some " other " trans and just not feeling any luv... i'll snag some old pickup and fix that for fun...

Hi Patty. The looks do nothing for me and it is way to big. I'm not much for lozenge shaped cars.

^Yeah, me either. It is powerful, though. I've got to love the looks though for that kind of money. I'm so looking forward to the new NSX. Not that I'll buy one but I really want to see it.
