I had a steak salad - cubes of steak, medium-rare, ...had some leftover steak that we didn't eat this weekend ...
Went to a new Primary Doc on Wednesday for initial visit. She is very on the Mediterranean Diet. We mostly follow this regimen, but I was AMAZED that "Meat" (beef/pork) is only to be eaten ONCE PER MONTH Poultry is OK 1X weekly and healthy fish 2X weekly. Sweets 1X weekly. Eggs 1X weekly.
Lots of skim milk products, hard cheeses, legumes, beans, fruits, veggies and whole grain carbs are the staples. I am going to try to move in this direction, but the real problem for me is my damned "sweet tooth"
My BMI is a slightly high 26.5. She wants me to get it down to 25.0, which implies a loss of 9 pounds....should be feasible

Jerry with a diet that stringent, you might live to be really, really, old. Of late, I'm not sure I want to live to be really, really old.
I'll drink my skim milk, watch the fat intake and stay with the everything in moderation as far as food intake.
If anyone tries to take away my M&M dish, they will be shot. Some chocolate every day is a must for me.

Friday is cheat day. Grilled grouper, fries, and slaw from the BBQ place up the road.

Steak is approx once per week for us. There are too many good nutrients in steak (good protein, amino acids) to not have it as part of your diet, especially while doing weight training. As long as there's no specific issue that your doctor tells you about, and you stick with fairly lean meat, there are no real downsides.
Besides, cows taste great!
