I bought the 3790 and find it works well when in Seattle finding places to meet our daughter for outings. I also use it in the 4Runner traveling in Eastern Washington. This one has lifetime updates and traffic along with touch screen - it looks simular an iPhone.

I've actually gotten a lot of use with mine. When we were in Chicago recently we were walking and were lost. My Nuvi 660 has a pedestrian mode so I set it and we were able to get directions. We have used in while sightseeing before.

Ours had pedestrian mode as well.

We had ours in the car on Saturday. We knew how to get where we were going, but there was a ton of traffic on our way home, due to a soccer game, so out came the Nuvi.

We hit detour and avoided the traffic. We like to keep moving.

I'm apparently beyond frugal: about $20 every 10 years or so for a new road atlas...MapQuest usually meets my needs for travel...

I haven't clicked the shutter on the camera in about 4 years...

The cell phone gets used about 30 minutes/year on average...
We won't be looking to you for the 'first on the block' report of the latest electronic device.

Up until this year I felt the same but I really have gotten some good use out of both the GPS and cell phone while traveling in the past few months.

Lainey, you won't believe it, but I just installed a 12 volt outlet under the dash in the MG for the GPS.

OMG, Dave. You've crossed to the other side.

Welcome.

Next time you are in Chicago, give me some advance notice and I'll try to arrange a hook-up with you.
Appreciate it, this trip was a rush. We had a nice time and got to see a few sights (Wed - Fri) before going to my friends house in Hoffman Estates for a friends reunion Friday night and Sat.

Hoping to get back one day and will let you know when.

Pok is right, that was the question.

I'm not sure the new less expensive ones have all the same features as the ones some of us have.

Besides, we're trying to avoid being part of the "throw away society" thus saving the planet for you, your potential kids and grandkids.
