Default An Obituary

I find that as I age, I spend more time reading obits.
This one is worth the read.

Is it for real? If so, looks like someone took great pleasure in writing their own obit.

When his family was asked what they remembered about Fred, they fondly recalled how Fred never peed in the shower - on purpose.

When I was a kid apprenticing in the clothing industry one of the old men that I worked for used to say that he, "checks the obituaries every morning, and if he doesn't see his name, he gets dressed and goes to work."

I too look at the obits every day. Not so much to know if I should go to work, but because it always struck me that the deaths of famous people and people who have made a difference serves as a timeline. I guess in a way, its how we measure things.

I must admit though, I've never read an obit quite like this one.

All I can think of is how I wish I'd known Fred. What a guy!!! and . . . HE DIDN'T PEE IN THE SHOWER (on purpose). Oh, and just fyi, I rarely read the obits anymore unless I get a phone call telling me that someone I knew has died. I got depressed at seeing more and more people younger than I am dying whether I knew them or not. I grieve horribly whenever I lose a friend, family member or acquaintance, so I'd like you all to stay as healthy as possible and live, live, live. I spend much less time dusting my house and more and more time enjoying the out of doors, my wonderful dog, Max, and Lord knows, the S2K and my time chit-chatting with you folks and planning our next adventure. WOOHOO. I guess that's why I sprang for another S2000: The Vintagers know how to plan adventures!!!

I don't read obits, but I might have liked Fred. I wonder if he rode a Harley? I went to our Class of 64 Birthday Party this last Saturday, and I left a bit joyed and depressed. I don't think several are going to make our next reunion.

When I clicked on the link to the obituary, I got a popup window generated by Norton Antivirus warning me that it just blocked an Internet worm originating from that web site. Wonder if the warning was legit???
