Default Off to a good start

Hope your Christmas eve is fun. We are off to a fun Christmas eve ourselves …………….

Luminaries:

I bought a bag of extra sand, since we were running low. Donna pre-folded 3-dozen bags early in the afternoon. Then it started raining and never ended. First time in 50 years the subdivision didn't do it. We got to collapse 3-dozen bags. At least I did not put in the sand and candles ahead of time.

Pumpkin Pie:

Donna made her own from-scratch pumpkin mix, made the crust, and was placing two pies in the oven when the metal shelf pulled completely out. It had been replaced prior in the wrong direction and there was nothing to catch it. Pumpkin mix all over the inside of the oven and the floor; it gets better. The mix went into the oven door slots and down between the oven glass. Now the door has to be taken apart - assuming it can be done.

Stockings:

None of the bags of junk food fits into the grandkids stockings. Where are the oranges and walnuts? They always fit.

And it’s still early……..

Things just keeping rolling along here. Donna just went to bed!! 10:30 pm on Christmas eve. We don't stay up till 3 am like the old days wrapping gifts for the kids but we never crashed before midnight - ever. She said her stomach hurt and she thinks she is getting sick.

Dave, for a guy who is not a fan of Christmas, it doesn't seem like this evening's happenings will make you look forward to next year.

Hope Donna feels better in the AM. Oh and what a mess with the oven..........sounds like a real PIA.

At this point, I agree with the others that you need to just kick back and knock back a few bourbons and wait until morning. Hopefully, Donna will feel better and the clean up will be a bit easier in the light of day.

Had the boring dinner tonight. Pre-sliced ham baked with no glaze. Dehydrated mashed potatoes with no salt & pepper, cold dinner rolls that didn't melt the frozen butter. Only the green beans had some bacon in them. Store bought apple pie for dessert. I need a bourbon or two.

Damn, that sucks.

Actually things turned around here. As they say, You Can't Keep A Good Women Down! About an hour later who showed under the tree (or near it)...... She said she was feeling much better. We sat by the tree and solved life's problems till 1:30 am. And then we said we need to go to bed, the grandkids will be here early.

Merry Christmas All
