Oh, I wish I was an oscar Mayer wiener....
But then... maybe not!
Oscar Mayer Recalls 96,000 Lbs. of Hot Dogs
Kraft Foods is recalling 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer wieners because they may mistakenly contain cheese, the Associated Press reports.
(Never mind that the cheese is probably the best thing in there.)
The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service says packages labeled "Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners" may actually contain "Classic Cheese Dogs."
It's just a mislabeling problem - there's nothing wrong with the cheese, or "pasteurized cheese product," to be more precise. But cheese contains milk, which is an allergen for some, and it is not declared on the label.
The mixup was discovered by a consumer who notified Kraft last Friday, who let the USDA know the following day. The FSIS says it hasn't received any reports of adverse reactions. The hot dogs were made in a plant in Columbia, Mo., in early March and bear the number "Est. 537H" inside and the USDA stamp of inspection (keep up the good work, inspectors!)
If you have questions, call the Kraft customer service department at (855) 688-4386.
The recall applies to:
•16-ounce individual consumer packages of "Classic Wieners Made With Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added," with a "USE BY 16 Jun 2014" date and product code "044700000632";
•Cases of 16-ounce packages that were distributed to retailers of "Classic Cheese Dogs Made With Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added, and Pasteurized Cheese Product," with "USE BY 16 Jun 2014" date and case code "00447000005300"
Those cases may contain packages that are mislabeled as "Classic Wieners."
However, if you consider cheese a bonus, it's safe to go ahead and eat the wieners.

Having something ooze out of your weiner can be an unwelcome surprise.

Be careful of what you wish for. From the verbiage of past television land this is self evident…
"Oh, I'm glad I'm not an Oscar Mayer weiner,
that is what I'd truly hate to be,
'cause if I were an Oscar Mayer weiner,
there would soon be nothing left of me."
So you can see…Others would want to eat you.
