It is not difficult at all to get. Death certificates are 'public' records and the person's SSN is on it.
My wife and I just had to close a bank account that we had for 11 years and open a new one because of identity theft. And my sister just had her atm card cloned and close to $1,000 taken out of her bank account just this past week.
Let's not make it any easier for crooks to steal. I believe that posting SSNs on the internet just makes it that much easier for identity theft to occur.

The point of the site is to trace relatives, but fraud, especially credit card through identity theft is rampant among the deceased. This allows for easy access to the one thing that is used as identity by almost everyone.
