Old S2000 Drivers
I am 62 and my wife (the owner) is a mere child twenty years my junior. She and I (we) have owned several CRX's, hatchback VTEC Honda, a Miata, and for the last seven years a MPV van(recently retired when we were rear ended while stopped by a van going 75+). In my years prior to my (this) wife I purchased the fastest bike available every two years and used them for my daily transportation. Prior to marriage I had a Chrysler 300F, C and 300. In the beginning I had a mini, 53VW, Austin Healey, Bug eyed Sprite, Spitfire, 57Corvette, and a Cobra.
The Honda S2000 is the most amazing and also the pinnacle of all the cars (+bikes) I have owned. First and foremost it is a "Honda" (Starts and runs every day), has AC (I am in Houston-air is not a option) , it corners as if it is on rails, you can hear the radio with the top down, it is very fast, and gets superb mileage!!!
My wife and I have discovered, like Crabby Guy, that most of the people we see driving appear to not be old enough to drive and we would like to have a e-mail from anyone in the Houston area who is "youth challenged".

-Age 39. Not a mid-life crisis; part of a lifelong passion with performance cars that began at age 8 when my dad bought a 240Z. I was totally hooked.
-This is my 4th Honda -- great cars every one I've owned.
-Bought the S2000 mainly to go to the track and drive the way the car was meant to be driven -- my research showed it to be the purest sports car for the money.
-My next car will have more HP and torque and likely no drop top (thinking Z06 or 911 soon).
-Enjoy it while you own it, but it's only an object.

I am 56, got my 03 Silverstone/red 6 weeks ago. Live in northeast Ohio (work in Chardon-snow belt-rural town). Was the only s2k in town on May 15 th. 2 weeks later another mid lifer (50) in town acquired 03 Silverstone/black
I find out another towny has an 03 Spa (acquired couple weeks ago) who is 56 or 57! May be more of us out there than we all think
Drive my Honda everyday to work-14 miles
and look forward to the rual commute everyday! Find getting out a bit testy
but other than that I have adjusted. This forum is a HOOT

I will be 45 this November, so I guess I am officially an "old fart" (at least compared to a lot of the members)
I heard all the mid-life crisis jokes when I got a Miata M edition 7 years ago (and I was not even 40), then REALLY heard them when I sold that and got a torch red 'vette convertible 3 1/2 years ago. Getting the S really has not brought on any more comments - they are used to my "ways" by now.
My Miata was a fun car, but lacked power. The 'vette had power in GOBS but was not reliable, and was expensive to own, insure, and operate. The S is just simply a BLAST to drive - even more fun that the Miata and lots more power and cheaper to own, insure, and operate.
I looked at other convertibles and was really "this close" to getting a 3.0l BMW Z3. My BMW ownership experience has been great and I like the looks and power of the Z, the handling is not even CLOSE to being in the same league as the S however. Besides loving the S, the real reason I have one is the money. I have to drive the daily driver to pick up and drop of kids daily and I have 2 motorcycles to ride. That does not leave a lot of time/miles for a convertible. The money the 'vette costs for the 16k miles I put on it in 3 years was "a lot". For what the S costs me to have a great convertible any time I want it, it is a real deal.
If I won the lotto and had a bunch of money, there are several cars and motorcycles I would buy. But I think I would always keep the S - it really is a great car and a hoot to drive.

This is the first roadster (aka 'sports car' now an anachronism) and I am 100% satisfied because it does everything relevant like look fast, very interesting handling and braking characteristics & performance, it can go relatively fast as well, and mostly because it fits with my definition of a quintessential 'quasi Spartan' performance sports car, and frankly I was glad to pay the $32k price, a bargain for me!
I became especially compelled to purchase because I have owned and driven a new 1969 Chevelle SS396 (350hp), a new 1984 Honda Accord I drove 290,000 miles before it had to be expired because of frame corrosion.
I am proud of my mechanical and motorsports expertise, ie, reading Road & Track and others car publications cover to cover since 1964, F1 fan attending seven consecutive 73-81 US Grand Prix's at watkins Glen; I own seven commercial trucks and a innumerable other mechanical equipment required by my tree and landscaping firm.
