Hey, it's good that Kathy and I just completed the AARP "Safe Driver Course" a couple weeks ago! Funny...they didn't emphasize the part about new driver aids allowing us to DRIVE FASTER
We'll get a 10% or so discount at our Auto Insurance renewal in Sept! We already get a discount for driving less than 7,500 miles....or something like that.
We already get a cut in PA annual inspection fees due to low mileage driven; plus a super-low price for a 10-ticket strip of commuter rail tickets to go into Philly and/or continue right to the PHL airport.

I hate myself for this since I'm not as young as I used to be (cough, cough), but I really get weary of seeing all those beautiful new sports cars, corvettes, Ferraris, Maseratis, Porsches, and so on down here with realllllly old white haired drivers. I've never seen so many high end sports cars in my life and all the owners are ancient. I guess I'm glad they're happy. I'm just not sure I could get in and out of many of them.

With that stated: I wish that some people would realize this on our S2000 meet drives, like the experience that Roseanne posted last year at S2K Days in Hood River, Oregon. I have also experienced this in 2015. People that get into a drive group in the first third of the pack and then do NOT keep up the pace with the leaders, and often loose site of the cars in front of them and allow enough space that locals can join into our caravans.
I understand that people do not want to, and SHOULD NOT drive over their heads, but please stay to the back of a given drive group and not ruin it for those of which chose to keep up with the drive group leader.
OK, There, I said it! It may not be politically correct, but I am tired of being politically correct.. Call me out if you will.
I have to admit Gene that those safety built-ins really make driving a lot better at least for me. My car has blis (blind side detectors) that tell me when a car is approaching on either side that is difficult to see. It also has a warning when I back up if I get into proximity of an object (or person). It has roll over protection that pops up if the car is in a rollover crash to protect my head from injury. The list goes on. I also really enjoy the blue tooth feature permitting me to answer a call or have a message read to me while I'm driving. My daughter's mustang has even more features that I find attractive (its newer than my car). I'm sure most of you have safety features on your newer cars that make them easier to drive.
