Default The Olympics, 2008

This is what we said about the Olympics back in 2004: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=228830&st=0

I wonder if the 2008 version is any better. Will NBC come through for us? Have they learned their lessons from the 2006 Winter Olympics (where viewship dropped significantly)?

Let the Games begin!

Edit: By the way, I just want to add that this time the Games has gotten way too political. Even our President used the event to put a jab in about the Chinese. Very sad. I think they should just leave politics out of the Games and let the athletes compete on the fields (or pools, as the case may be).

The +1 wants to watch the Equestrian action but they are only showing it via the pc live but the picture flow is just to jittery to enjoy. I can't see any work around to improve it - is there a way to smooth it?

If you read or watch the horrible hardships the Chinese gov't has imposed on its people, it can't be anything but political. Farmers with 100% of their water diverted to fill up those nice fountains and rowing venues -- it's hard to grow food without water or rice in bone dry empty paddies. They closed factories to try to control air pollution -- ok maybe that should be done anyway, but this was JUST for the Olympics and how many people did that put out of work? They banned a substantial number of cars from the roads for the same reason. Again, maybe it should be done but not JUST for the Olympics. The list goes on and on. Of course it's political -- they want to put on a pretty face and we don't want the world to think they've suddenly become a "kinder gentler" nation. It's all b.s.

It doesn't appear you can. The pause doesn't work, since it's live.

Given the balance of trade, those were probably OUR dollars. HPH

I know that it was politically motivated but it was nice to see the President in the stands cheering our swimmers on.

I wish you would all get past china and their issues and take the games for what they are competition between athletes amongst all countries. The way I see it no matter where the games are hosted its still an athletic competition. China doesnt control the performance of the worlds athletes thats controlled by the athletes training, endurance and sheer will to win.

This is the olympics not the china invitational.

Now onto the games anyone have any interest in any event?

Micheal Phelps is on the verge of doing what no other athlete in the history of the world has done and thats winning 9 gold medals. He aslo could do another never before done feat and win 8 gold medals in this olympics alone. We have Dana Torrese 41 YEARS OLD yes you read that right up there swimming and anchoring a relay team that just won silver!! Unbeleivable being mostly vintage here we should all be looking up to her with a big

Get behind the athletes and leave the politics behind. We can always start an olympic politics thread that will be located in the proper politics section of S2KI.

Where are you picking up the feed? If its on www.nbcolympics.com the silverlight application works flawlessly. Ive been watching a lot of events thru there. You can even watch 2 at once. I suspect if your having troubles than you may possibly be on a slow internet connection. possibly dial-up?
