(This refers to the 4x200Free, which was actually his fifth gold and fifth WR.)

(Interesting side note: The USA had to get in as a wildcard team for the 4x100Medley because one of their swimmers left early in the heat races at the 2007 world championships.)

I notice that NPR, quite tactfully, didn't mention anything about his gills.

Did anyone see the "human interest" bit yesterday, where they interviewed his sisters about his being something of a sex symbol? They tried hard to be serious, but the question completely cracked them up. It was hilarious. HPH
