OMG!!!
I ended up hitting a vehicle in the other lane, broke my femur as I impacted their front wheel. It was an old guy driving a big ass Lincoln Town car, he slammed on the brakes as he saw me enter his lane, he saved my life by reacting so quickly, another inch of movement and I would have been dead. I still get shivers down my spine thinking of it, they call it PTSD these days.
Ah they would have figured out a way to ticket me somehow for something.

BTW: It was 1.5 miles.
I have to schedule a routine physical months out in advance. When I have switched jobs it takes month to get any kind of insurance without which I do not know where I can make an appointment. I promise you, ours is a worse system for all but the wealthiest americans.

When my father died of ALS he got the best care possible, every need, homecare, and equipment provided to him during his illness. If he lived elsewhere under a different system the family would have been bankrupted. When I broke my leg in a motorcycle accident I had to sit in a hospital for quite a few days before I was operated upon. I knew my father got the best care possible so I couldn't complain about my situation, resources were being allocated based on need as I awaited for my treatment. Not perfect but not terribly bad, and somewhat equitable.

There are a number of articles of late where VC are acquiring hospitals, sucking the equity out of through mortgages and bonds, ( which then pay bonuses to the VC team,) and then slowly close the hospital functions.
In the end there is a bag of debt and an empty building,.
