I don't watch it but do catch clips of it on news shows the following day. Last movie I saw in the theater was Gone in 60 seconds! I do like to catch some recent movies when they come onto HBO.

Glad to see Spotlight win the big one. Otherwise you guys didn't miss anything. It was on as background for me. Sandy likes to watch.

As it was for me. We went to dinner Friday night with a couple who really thought Spotlight was a good movie; apparently they were not alone. After seeing the clip last night, I was wondering if The Revenant has English speaking people or do we have to read the lines.... anyone know?

I think the clip they showed was a conversation between the main character and a native American. I've seen other trailers where English is heard (I think).

The only conversations I can remember that were not in english were between some of the indians. The vast majority of the movie was in english.

Thanks that's good to know, I thought maybe it was just "bear" hugs and Indian gibberish - that's all they keep showing.

I agree, I thought Chris Rock was exceptionally good handling a very difficult subject. I liked the joke about why there weren't Oscar protests in the 1950s and 1960s "because we had important things to protest".

One of my favorite parts of all of the awards shows are the In Memoriam segments. It's like watching history. Liz and I were both amazed at how few of the people we recognized. It seems that less actors and more behind the scenes people died during the year. We thought David Grohl was excellent singing "Blackbird" during the In memoriam.
