Well, my dogs were like a member of the family. Sometimes you get along and sometimes you don't. But you're still family. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear of your loss Mike. Looks like you a lot of, uh, memories of her. I know they can be a pain, but they really do become a member of the family.

I'm really sorry for your loss. Despite any flaws they may have they sure manage to touch your heart. There's just something about a creature that loves you without expectation of anything but a little bit of love in return.

My dog was such a stubborn bitch (literally) she is lucky to have survived past her first year. Now I know I will break down when she's gone. I feel for you.

A family dog can bring a tear to your eyes just as quickly as any other beloved member of the family. Only five short years. Gentle sympathies, Mike.

RIP Ginger.

I know you loved her -- not a typo in your whole piece!

I understand completely. Befor having kids my wife and I purchased a purebred Ridgeback. What a beautiful dog. We thought it would put us in the frame of mind for kids. We had the dog for 13 years which is amazing. The dog slept on our bed. He started to loose his balance and also started bleeding out from the back end. We took him to the Vet and they suggested we put him down. They figured he had cancer and was just old.

He had a great life and the only thing worse than the day we put him to sleep was my dad's passing..., I loved my dog (max), and I'm getting teary eye'd just writing this. He is in a better place.

We have a new dog, mostly because the kids that Max prepared us for missed him as much as me. He used to pull the kids around in a wagon, a great family dog. The new dog (Riely) is a half german shepard, half Weimaraner. He is even a bigger pest and will never replace Max.

RIP Ginger..., say hi to Max for me! :-(

Sorry to hear that Mike.

I was going to try to post something last month about our dogs passing but every time I tried, I got too emotional.
When our youngest left home, we had the empty nest syndrome something awful. I went to the shelter an adopted a little ball of black fur that I named Buddy. The best friend I ever had was that dog. he grew to 100 pounds and was as gentle as any pet could be.
Last month, while we were at the beach, the kennel called to tell us about Buddy. That hurt as much as anything I have experienced in a long time.

Anyway, sorry to ramble on but when I saw your post, it helped me to bring it out.

My sympathies for your loss.
