Seriously, I wish we had more Vintage gatherings within a day or two driving distance from us down here on the Gulf. I really admire Jim and all the others who make the long multi-day drives to the events in the Northeast.

Glad to read that Dragon events are still happening after Raul and Company decided to step down from their leadership rolls in those get-togethers. I have many fond memories of Dragonball and Wake the Dragon, as well as some nice T-shirts. Wish I still had the car.
Why don't you bring the Miata???
It would do O.K.

Raul is back. The Wake the Dragon is his.

Emil, like you, I have my limits. I drove the car from its point of purchase in St. Georges, DE back to Long Beach, MS and once was enough. It is not the Interstate cruiser the NSX was. I am hoping someone will let me ride along on the group drives if I promise not to play navigator.

Gene, good to hear Raul is back in the saddle. I may have to invade WTD with my Hairdresser's Special next spring.

The Dragon events never stopped even though Raul wandered off. I organized two Dragon events (Rock the Dragon in the Spring and Dragon Fall Run in the Fall) for 3 years. Last year Rock the Dragon had over 160 cars and over 200 people attend. One of the biggest Dragon events ever. This year I'm doing two Dragon events; Summer Dragon and Dragon Fall Run 2016 (Sept 16-18), Spring Fling 2016, Gettysburg Get Together VIII, Celebrate Life (the meet for Maury (jumpy guy) that collects money for St. Jude Childrens Hospital) and tentatively attending the Tomcatt Run and the Brown County meet. If you want to attend any or all of these, we're brand agnostic. At RtD2015 we had lots of S2000's, Mazdas, Mini's, an Evo or two, a GTR, and even some Ford Focus's (Foci?). You're more than welcome no matter what car you happen to be driving.

See you in Bethany in May.

We are trying to leave some open space on our calendar for the fall harvest. We hope that you decide to gather the group for another fun weekend. If the interest isn't there, than maybe a Saturday or Sunday cruise for everyone to gather together for lunch from different parts of NE.

There are few things at work here, but, IMHO, the issue is location, location, location.

As Jim noted most of the attendees to Vintage meets are in the Northeast through the Ohio Valley. I think that we can give a big round of thanks to Rick Hesel. Between Fall Colors (2004 drawing over 200 cars), and his idea for the original Spring Fling it got a lot of attention and formed a comradery in the NE/OV that probably exists nowhere else except Ca. The problem is as many of our cars have aged, so have we, and the sweet spot has begun to shrink. It seems that distance is now about 3-5 hours for many of us. So considering that distance, Pa offers the best location from a "marketing/attendeance" perspective but then there are issues with location fatigue and people want to move it.

As far as the regional meets, it is a catch as catch can from me (and I am as close to the center of the "sweetspot" as anyone). I had plans to make both the Gettysburg meet and the Fall Harvest, but vacation took those plans away. Dave, if you plan another meet this year, I will plan to go, and barring anything unforeseen I will be there.

As the number of us Vintagers gets smaller we will have to hope they bring out a new S car to replenish our ranks or there will no one left.

That said, if you plan it, I will make my best effort to be there.

Ken, are you hinting that we are a dying breed?

That statement makes me laugh out loud. When I joined the S2000 group 15 years ago one of things I really appreciated was how much younger everyone was. I was 60 and most were in their early 40's. I have enough life long friends in my MG club who are showing their age - some in walkers, some dying, etc. I have to say I've been surprised how many younger people on this site seem in a hurry to feel old. I may have to look for another sports car and find a group that's still in their early 40's. At the pub last night a few friends were wanting to make a big deal of the fact I'm hitting a 3/4 of century this month, cause some of them aren't even 50 yet. If you think for a minute that you are a dying breed, you could be. I never think that way and don't care to be around those that do.
