Panic gasoline buying
Is it going on where you live?
I can not believe what's going on today. Gossip is running wild that gasoline will be $6 or more a gallon because of Ike and there is panic buying going on here. I first heard about when I met my wife for lunch today. Since we were right next to the Shell station we normally use we both filled up after lunch .... just for the heck of it. It seemed a little busier than normal.
OMG you should see it now. Cars are lined up out to and down the streets.
I was going to Sam's about an hour ago to look for a birthday present for my grandson's birthday on Sunday. FORGET THAT. I turned down the four lane highway that goes to the store and the double line that's leaving it was over 1 mile long. I turned around at first opportunity and due to blind luck was able to jump into the exit line. Otherwise I might have waited for ever.
I just don't get the mentality of people that are willing to wait in lines for hours to both get gas and then to get out just to save a couple bucks. I certainly would not. Not to save 20% one time, even if I was sure it was going to happen. Would you?

It started in Chattanooga yesterday evening. Most of the convenience store stations ran out of gas by 9:00. Luckily I filled up yesterday morning and can wait until things settle down again.
The same here in Kentucky. All gasoline octaine is the same price. I filled up my Accord at $3.79 and went back 10 minutes later and it was $3.99. What I am concerned about, is the price for all octaines the same in your locations? If it is, I have a trip coming up beginning next Friday and people will probably purchase the higher octaines, if it is at the same price. So much for VTECing.

I filled a bunch of cans early this week at $3.42 for regular in Clyde, OH. I hope the stash lasts a while, plus we're heading for Europe, and I won't need much for a while. It's crazy, and we can't seem to do a thing about it.

I paid $3.91 today for 93 octane.
