Unhappy Performance Mod

I am looking at modifying my V Tech and wondered if this is a good choice.

The Apexi fuel/air controller is a favorite among the 'tuner' crowd. I don't know of anyone with an "S" who has added one (but I'm sure somebody has), but I can vouch for its effectiveness on a 'tweaked' Integra LS motor (shaved head, reworked ports, adjustable cam gears, CAI). They work by 'fooling' the fuel sensor into what you want it to do, instead of what it was made to do. You can make multiple adjustments all the way up the RPM range, and I believe the unit you are looking at can store TWO sets of adjustments (like, for street, and for track). On the Integra, between the cam gears and the fuel/air controller, we were able to plant the power band right where we wanted it, and the amount of adjustability (per the dyno) was rather remarkable.

You'll need to have access to a dyno to take full advantage of the tuning abilities that the thing will give you. I do NOT believe it will allow you to alter the VTEC point (but I'm not 100% sure here.... the LS Integra is not a VTEC motor).

Mebbe someone else will have some input on how these things work on the "S" motor.

Happened to stop by vintage even though I'm no where near there yet.

Yes the V-AFC is a very effective mod for those looking for a few more hp...it can change the VTEC engagement point, but you have to be careful because at lower settings the computer may see entering VTEC (more engine noise and vibration) as knock and actually pull timing. About dyno's and tuners in your area, I'd say ask that in the regional forums

Snowflake was the only albino gorilla ever known to exist.

He died in 2003.
