Default Peter Brock

This terrific piece just appeared from Haggerty Insurance - interviewing designer Peter Brock. I always considered the Cobra Daytona Coupe one of the most beautiful sports cars ever! A 1/18" scale model is always within eye sight. I had full intentions of buying his replica when he started producing them nearly 20 years ago. I saw his early prototype at a Sebring race and started making contact with his sales department. I arranged for a test drive during a F1 race at Indy where the car was being shown. It was heart-breaking to realize I could never drive one after sitting in it. The engine / transmission tunnel limited the foot placement to a position that was impossible for me to work around after having had a couple surgeries on my right ankle. Every so often I've seen one at a car show in the Ann Arbor area and could only wish it were mine, providing I could actually drive it.

In addition to his comments in the rather long piece there is a great video where it goes into the details of the Cobra Daytona Coupe history and success. From the Sting Ray on I have always considered him one of the great designers of our times. Few dare to be really different and far fewer really succeed - to kick the GT-40's butt in the beginning as well as Ferrari's says it all.

He was a legend, thanks for sharing. A friend gave me a ride in his new 63 split window fuelie. What a car.

Now that would have been a worthwhile investment.

Without doing any research, I doubt it. Replica's normally don't do well unless they are really high end, like those of multi-million dollar sports cars. I'd never buy a car with the idea its a going to be a good investment.

I just watched the video in the middle of the article. What a treasure that recording is.

As for owning one, just sell all the stuff in your garage and buy this:

If you are interested, let me know and we can schedule a trip to the Factory which is conveniently located near me.

GREAT read and video, Dave.

The Factory Five gang was at Oshkosh with their 'toys', including a Type 65 Coupe. Here's a couple of pics (if I can get this to work)

^ Roy, That interior shot shows the issue I ran into when they cram the engine & trans halfway into the cockpit. But, none-the-less I love the shape.

For the love of.... At least they could put the correct wheels on the coupe. It needs to have the FIA type wheels and billboard Goodyear tires.
