Pillow talk II
I'm still having some sleep issues (need to avoid sleeping on either side) and doing my best to sleep on my back. That seems to happen more often, but I'm waking up with a heck of a stiff neck. Not sure if it's just from sleeping in a position that is not natural to me, or what the reason is.
Either way I bought a memory foam contoured pillow yesterday. Tried it last night and the neck was even worse this AM. It takes a few hours before most of the stiffness abates. I'm going to give it another night or two, then maybe switch to another memory foam pillow....
Anyone have luck with a contour pillow?

We bought our contour pillows when we bought our sleep # bed and really like them. I just saw a program on TV that addressed different pillows types. Let me do a little surfing and see if I can find the web site.

Lainey, I have tried about 5 different contour pillows. I do like the ones that fit my neck. Some can be too thick or too hard for me but the one I have now is fine.

I've been using contoured pillows for 10+ years due to degenerative arthritis, spurs, cervical spondylosis. The Well-Pil-O (with memory foam but very firm) from RoLoKe has been my pillow of choice almost all this time. The standard was $80 + shipping and I also have the travel version as well. My wife uses a contoured pillow but in a much softer version available from any box store. Since I can no longer sleep on my side with the surgery, I discovered her softer pillow works much better for me sleeping on my back. Lainey there definitely are big differences between contoured pillows, so it pays to try more than one and also give your neck time to adjust to the newness.

Thanks, Dave.
Getting old sux. Beats the alternative though.

I don't like contours. Have you tried lying two pillows on top of each other and lying on them a little further up than usual? Sometimes I'll set them one atop the other and position myself so that my shoulders hit them at the bottom and my head is near the top. It elevates my upper body, my shoulders take the weight and that takes the strain off my neck.
