I plan on buying the Coolpix L830 tomorrow. I have always had Nikon cameras due to their outstanding lens quality and ease of use. Canon is also very good. I used them when I worked in the Quality profession and they always performed exceptionally.

I don't know what you mean by that. I didn't mean to be rude so I'm sorry if I came off that way.

I love the new Panasonic Lumix ZS25 I bought a month ago. I got it at Costco and am very happy with it. I paid $200 because Costco had it marked down $50 but now it's priced even lower at $170. I've been using a Nikon Coolpix S8000 but I like this one much better and won't be using my Nikon anymore.
It Features:
16.1 MP, 20X zoom, 3" LCD, 16 GB Card and Case, Full HD Video, 24mm Ultra Wide Lens, High Sensitivity MOS Sensor

[/quote]I apologize, didn't mean to come across negatively. I sometimes buy on impulse but I shouldn't have asked for suggestions without hearing all opinions. My bad.
I am another confirmed Canon fan...have had several of the point-and-shoot variety...good value/price ratio
When we were in Arizona, I had to smile with the other old folks traipsing around with 50# of gear and 18" long telephoto lenses.....while I had my Canon Powershot in my pocket

My wife has owned it since Mother’s Day 2013. It has seen only moderate usage and so far it has been trouble free. A compact point-and-shoot was her only interest; the Panasonic’s large LCD, its telephoto capabilities, and the 10fps in high speed burst mode were its strong sales points for her -- an advanced photographer would want more. She also likes candid photography and thought anything larger would defeat that ability.

So, I will preface my post by saying that I'm a Nikonian at heart but not loyal to just one brand.
For weddings and other photography, I use a Nikon DSLR. On my recent trip to Hawaii, I contemplated bringing it but I ended up taking my little Sony P&S RX100. They have an updated version now RX100 II . I really like it. Small, portable, and very versatile. Great in low light, but I will admit, I think the flash is mediocre at best. Having said that, I think 99% of all built-in flashes aren't that great. If I could slap my SB-910 flash on to it, that would be great but that's not gonna happen
Another camera that I think is really good based on feedback I've been given is this the Lumix DMC-ZS30. It's competitively priced and the photos I have seen are really good.
Enjoy the shopping and post up some pics!

Do any of you who favor the P&S still want a viewfinder? I do not care to take pics without a view finder, though I know small cameras with viewfinders are hard to come by.
I bought a cheap Canon with a viewfinder last year, but it is sooooooo slow.
On occasion I still drag out my old Olympus. I got this right after we started hanging out with S2KI folks. It has served me well. Not as thin as the newer models, but still works well. Hard to believe this was worth almost $500.00 ten years ago.
Pic from ebay, not my messy desk.

It has been more than a few years…but I have several circa 80’s and 90’s high-end 35mm SLRs and two 6x6 cameras that are now totally obsolete and worthless. I continue to save them with the hopes the will see a resurgence like vinyl disks and early McIntosh receivers/amps.
