point & shoot camera
I used to be all about Nikon, from film to digital. My mom was all into photography, with her own darkroom, and that's what she used. I jumped to Canon for my big camera (EOS 40D) a few years back, after getting sick of spots on the Nikon D70s part inside
that required a servicing and at least $100. I like my Canon but I never use it anymore. It's just so heavy.
Lainey, I prefer a view finder, too, but I'm okay with the screen on back.

^This is the first close up I've taken with the Lumix ZS25. Yesterday, Talia was going crazy with something in her mouth. I thought she had a toy mouse tail stuck in her throat until she clawed in her mouth and ^this flung out.
I'm fairly certain my Canon would do a better job. Hmm. Now I'll have to find out.
^Here's one with my Canon EOS 40D using my 70-200mm Canon zoom. I don't have a close-up lens for it. Yeah, that's Talia in the frame. She's a busy body.

I am another confirmed Canon fan...have had several of the point-and-shoot variety...good value/price ratio
When we were in Arizona, I had to smile with the other old folks traipsing around with 50# of gear and 18" long telephoto lenses.....while I had my Canon Powershot in my pocket

absolutely and did not mean to demean the serious photographer...just to say it's not me. i have a friend who has a zillion dollars worth of camera equipment (along with a 911 and an Audi A7). he has been all around the world on photo tours....most recently to Brazil. he prints and displays his beautiful pics in shows. for me, the snapshots from my trips to 7 continents are for the memories...not expecting kudos from my amateur efforts.
LB's comment reminds me that many folks on our trips eschew ANY camera. They buy professionally shot POSTCARDS for 50 cents each/ 12 for 5 bucks. NOT a criticism of you photo pro's.
With digital photography, at least we no longer need a dozen boxes of COLOR KODACHROME slides. I'll be I'm not the only one with about 10 of these in the closet....each holding 50 or more slides.
