I can recommend the Canon TR8520. Very inexpensive inkjet printer (like $100). Very satisfied with it.

Check the prices of the cartridges before you buy any of them. That’s where you’ll spend most of your money.

For sure but more importantly is where you buy the cartridges from. Mine takes four #281 & one #280. Best Buy prices for the 5 pack in “XL” is $98. I order mine from 4INKJETS in the "XXL" size for $50, plus ship $5 and tax $3 = $58.

Also make sure you are comparing new with new and not new with refill. Some are fine, but I remember my laser printer would not work well with remanufactured cartridges.

I like HP especially the printer ink program they offer. Much cheaper than buying them at Staples, Walmart etc. They monitor usage and send cartridges through the mail. If your usage increases you can upgrade your plan or vice versa. Love it and their printers.

Our new Canon uses a tank system. To fill the three color (Cyan, Yellow & Magenta) requires a 70mL bottle which cost me $11.00 each. The black ink is 170mL for $17.00 each.

The reviews indicated that ink usage was low. We will see.

After being hosed for years by HP with their pricing for their ink cartridges I switched to Canon (years ago). I am very happy with Canon!!

This thread has been around for a while...just read through some of it. The above still applies. I still have the same HP. I've bought ink since I posted the above and every time I make that purchase I ask myself why I still have the printer. I tried some cheap ink along the way and got what I paid for.

Really?

Maybe I read the information way too fast. I thought you got periodic ink based on time, not mileage print use. If it has some tie in to how much I use then there's some value.

I don't intend to buy another HP printer (or workstation).

I learned that not all inexpensive ink sellers are the same. In the past I've had some where the ink went way too fast and some that were not compatible and my Canon wanted to reject the China ripoffs. I'm very please with the seller I use now.
