Default Printers: wireless vs hard-wired?

OK, so I've bought a new HP Printer with wireless capability.

What are the pros/ cons of setting it up hardwired vs. wireless with our primary desktop Dell computer?

I can locate them right next to each other in our little computer area.

Is one method more fool-proof than the other?

Other concerns....such as data privacy ?

If they are next to each other and you have the necessary cable, why would you even consider wireless?

We have a Dell laptop and a wireless HP printer. Love printing when sitting in the family room and printing in the Den (other side of the house). I am not a true tech but if you are on a secure network than privacy should not be an issue.

I agree, if they are side-by-side go wire, especially if you have any concerns about privacy. Is your Dell set up for wireless, if not it needs to be and you know how you don't like spending $. Both of my printers are USB connected. The new one didn't come with a cable but I had an extra laying around. Also, I'm told the new printers come with ink cartridges that are only like 1/3rd full so you'll need some new ones soon if you didn't pick up any. I did just to save the second trip back.

Even if you think you are on a secure wireless network, think again if a technically savvy person is near it your not

Every time you make a hardware change or software snafu, you may end up deleting and re-enabling a wireless connection. Believe me...
