No secret. I love rain races and it was a downpour for the end of the season championship races. Nick Tandy with a Porsche was heads and shoulders one class act! Not only winning the class but the overall. I often tape races and fast forward through some of it but not this one. Rain races are the best as they demand the very best of every driver every second. Hope you had a chance to see some of it. I felt bad for those who had their strategy screwed by the early ending but given what the fans, crews, drivers, corner workers, etc. had put up with all day long - it was likely over due.

As "they" say: Rain is the great equalizer.

As some of you may know, I road raced motorcycles back in the late 70's and I learned two things while doing so: One: Big rain drops hurt (even through one's leathers at speeds over over 110+ MPH.)

I also learned that I was smooth enough to be fast in the rain. There is nothing more gratifying than being "hooked up" in a one wheel drift when accelerating out of a turn while the front wheel is barely (if at all) in contact with the track.

With that stated: That is why I was almost horrified at the first lap at BeaverRun at the FCT04 meet when I came over the rise into to T1 and found myself pointed at the wall. But, in typical S2000 fashion. "When in doubt both feet out" the car corrected it self and I an kept going. I LOVE THIS CAR!

There is a very memorable autocross event for me where I came from 8th place to second on the last run in the driving rain. It was a National Tour event and my car was the only one in the class that drove in. The rest were all trailered race cars. My car was woefully under-prepped. After a dry first day, I was 8th out of 10 drivers. The second day started out with no improvement. I was lined up for my last run of the weekend. The last car in the class to run and pulled out a miracle.

I have always enjoyed autocrossing in the rain. It takes real patience and smooth inputs to be fast.
