Question Real Life S2000 "Side Impact Test"

Police Report:

Time: Tuesday, June 2- 12:20 pm
Conditions: Clear, mild temps, no precip, moderate traffic
Location: Montgomery Ave & Penn Rd, Lower Merion Twp, Peeay
What happened:
1) '03 Honda S2000 proceeding west on 4 lane road at ~ 35 mph; has green light
2) '04 Toyota Prius proceeding north on 2 lane road at ~35 mph; has red light
3) Female driver in Toyota runs red light and tee-bones Honda (see pics )
4) Toyota left in middle of road....entire front bumper dropped onto pavement and steam coming from engine; had to be towed....not drivable
5) Honda spun 180* and ended up alongside curb lane...facing wrong direction...engine shut off (by impact?); S2000 re-starts and driven to side of road
6) Police officer and tow truck arrive within a couple minutes; luckily for Honda driver, a witness (who was driving behind the Prius) stopped and gave a statement to officer Toyota driver received a citation.
7) Best news: No one was injured....older Toyota driver was shaken up; younger S2000 driver was cool and calm. No involvement of pedestrians, other vehicles, light posts, etc
8) Worst news: S2000 out of commission for at least 2 weeks in prime "top down" weather Rental car picked up tomorrow

Side Impact Test Result Summary: Available upon request

Well it survives a hit from a mini mee. Hopefully it does the same from something a little more substantial. Not that i want another firsthand report from you

Jerry i assume this is your car. Glad to know all is good and your ok and no injurys.

The S can be repaired!

So, who was driving? Couldn't be you - it said 'younger'.

On a serious note, glad everyone is OK. We have pretty tough cars, don't we?

Hey, you should have seen me do my "Dukes of Hazzard" routine to get out to the car

OK, maybe I should "edit" to say slightly younger

All that really matters is no injuries. Thank goodness. Doors can be replaced.

So, what color is the next one going to be?

Wow, sorry your white hot S got hurt but I'm really glad you didn't, Jerry. So, how did you get out of the car? Passenger door?

Sure looks like a mess, I'm sure the body shop will have it looking good as new, it's just the few weeks being without the car in the middle of June. Next time you want to do a crash test leave the S2000 home.

We have so many people run red lights around here that I ALWAYS slow down and look both ways if I am the first in an intersection. Sorry about your accident! Glad you're OK!

Sorry to hear about your accident, but the important thing is that there were no injuries.

Shall we all guess how much the repair bill will be?
