Regional Names and Terms
What about state monikers, Im known as a Maniac and proud of it, my neighbors just one state to the south well you ask them what there known as. Ill be polite but what about the other states what are you known as?
Pop or Soda = Coke ("I'm gettin a coke" could mean "I'm getting a Root Beer", or even "I'm getting a Pepsi."
Grinder or Sub or Hogie = Po-Boy (New Orleans influence)
Where yat?
The plural of y'all is all-a-y'all.
We throw stuff at EVERY parade...Mardi Gras, Christmas, St. Paddy's Day, Homecoming, Cruisin the Coast...If there's a parade we throw and catch beads, moon pies, candy, stuffed animals, panties, etc.
Other'n that we just talk normal anglish.

Citizens of Mississippi are generally referred to as "Rednecks". 
But not south of I-10. We're quite cosmopolitan down here what with our Best Buys, Targets, and Hooters. And Waffle Houses. We probably have more Waffle Houses per square mile here on the Gulf Coast than any other part of the country. From the I-10/US49 overpass you can see three of them!

I'm just a New Yorker, which is sad actually because 90% of the people then automatically assume I live in the city. When someone asks me where I live I typically say Upstate, then they ask what state and I say New York, and they never make the assumption I live in Manhattan. I have zero desire to be seen as a city dweller.
