Default Remember these?

Anyone have parents or grandparent hang these on their cars? Did they ever use the water in them?
Does anyone know what that thing hanging off the passenger door is? A vintage Go-Pro?

The door hanger is a poor man's A/C. It was designed to pull cooler outside air into the interior.

Swamp cooler for autos in the summer. My dad had both the window mounted cooler - and the water bags! LOL

I have never seen either one. Both are pretty cool (get it?).

Every summer, in the 60s, we would drive from Coronado CA to Zephyr Hills FL with occasional stops in Kansas City to visit relatives. Across the desert many cars had the bags. You soaked them to help them stay cool. Lots of overheats back then but we managed to stay the course.
We drove a 56 Cadillac and later a 64 Lincoln.

A few more auto things you don't see anymore.

Necker, suicide knob, fuzzy dice, Moon tachometers, Burma Shave ads.

Cosmo, that's a new one to me.
And that red and chrome dashboard brings back memories. So cool.

Yes, I remember the bag. I grew up with those bags when our family of 6 would drive the 1970 and earlier, Bonneville station wagons across the desert while towing our boat from North Hollywood to Lake Havasu on the Colorado river.

I picked one up off eBay and use the suction cup mount to install on the windscreen of my S. Easy to remove if I leave the top down for a while. It works and get lots of comments. Lots of folks think it is some kind of radar detector!
