Remembering Jeanne Traphagan
Chaz...So sad to hear this. Here are a couple of poems I have found give me comfort in times like these. I've posted them before but they are worth contemplating again...
"God's Garden"
God looked around his garden
And saw an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills hard to climb
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered "Peace be thine"
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home
"Now or Never"
Don't wait for longing for the day
When better times might come your way
Discard the fears that may depress
Live now and garner happiness
It's such a waste to dwell on gloom
Though you have problems find the room
For loving when the path is rough
For laughter when the going's tough
To fully live means you must face
Whatever comes with humble grace
And if you mourn turn it to praise
How much to do, How few the days!

Next time you blow the horn Charlie, play it for her. It is hard to loose a friend. It is harder yet to loose a partner. We often overlook how we have partners in many facets of our life. It sounds like you understand that very well Charlie. Sorry for your loss.
Thanks, Bill. I sure will!
Nick,
-- I totally agree. I really feel crappy that I didn't get to see Jeanne for the past couple of years and didn't get to say good bye.
I really have to stop opening this thread at work; I keep getting misty. Thanks again for the support, folks. I know you guys understand how I feel.

It is of no consolation, and it certainly doesn't ease the pain, but the passing of a good friend is the time to reflect back on the precious time that the two of you spent together.
Your consolation is in the knowing that a little bit of Jeanne will live on in you and all of those who she touched in her lifetime.

Thank you Dave and Rob. The kind thoughts definitely help. I'm feeling a lot better about it this afternoon.
I was just remembering some moments of brass quintet that we did together. Yup, she was awesome!
