I'm still plugging away at it. We've had a house full of company since Martha got back from Savannah, so I haven't been able to do much.
I'm hoping to have this done by the American Tricentennial, but I wouldn't put any money on it.
Should I bring a hammer to the FFF.

I are gud wth hammur.

A+ Dean. Creative on the backsplash.

Are the cabinets maple?

The backsplash was Martha's doing. She wanted a random pattern of tiles that matched the floor and counter top, with some white ones from the same series for good measure.
The cabinets are natural maple (natural is much easier to match if I ever want to add some DIY stuff to it) in a Shaker style with brushed nickel knobs. The sink is a matte black granite composite which we thought would be a nice change over stainless steel for something different.
I've just got started on the other side of the kitchen as you can see. It still has the gawdawful almond melamine cabinets in it that have probably been here for twenty plus years.
Martha must think that I'm doing a good job. She finally let me order my new universal player tonight.

Here's a couple from today. Most of the cabinets now have doors.

The backsplash is what some would call boring. I'll call it neutral. Almond color with a bit of shade variation in the tiles and some decorative tiles thrown in. It's weird, it almost looks dirty in the first pic. Maybe it's the lighting and the flash from the camera? The electrician will be filling up those holes with outlets tomorrow.

The countertop is done and hidden under the carboard to protect it while the workers finish up.

I think we should have a test. Kind of like the "ink blot" tests given in the days of old.

I see kind of a "dog face" in the decorative tile in my backsplash.

What do you see? We may learn a lot about each other with your answers.

Martha gets an A+ in style then. You can have the A+ for workmanship.

Enjoy your new universal player (what is that)? You do realize you can't hook it up until the kitchen project is complete, don't you?
I'm plugging that sucker in as soon as it gets here. I've been researching the things for about a year now. A universal player plays all disk formats: DVD-Video (DVD-V), DVD-Audio (DVD-A), Regular stereo CDs, Super Audio CDs (SACD) both stereo and multichannel, and High Density CDs (HDCD).
