YAY!

Oooh, I almost missed these (thanks for pointing me to them from the chat thread). The site seems to have cleared all the thread memory in MyS2K.

NICE, Lainey!!!

We are happy with the results, and all our choices worked well together. A bit of luck there.

Brant, more pix!

BTW, are you making exterior changes as well?
At the moment I haven't had time to deal with pics. Too many things going on. The kitchen floor looks AMAZING!!! He got the first coat on it today and I was...pardon the pun...FLOORED!!!

The rest is coming along well. Thus far the roof is keeping out the water...always a plus.

Exterior changes...several in the long-term...few in the short-term. We are probably going to paint the house green this summer. Still working out the color. Also, the front porch needs to be reconstructed from the ground up...but it will end up virtually identical to what it is today. Then a garage. Then a whole new back porch/deck area. Then landscape design for the whole yard. Then, hopefully, a new picket fence around at least the two street facing sides.

So...yeah...a few changes...

Cool, Brant! Yes, always a plus for the roof to keep the water out.

Oh, hey, BTW,

and it begins (again)

this time the living room

always hated the dark panneling

some digbat painted over the wall paper (red walls) so i am going to see if i can strip the paint and paper and make a nice surface to paint the walls -

this wont be a huge project - just re-rock the panneled wall - remove the overhead cabnit in the kichen and give everything a nice coat of bright paint

Kitchen turned out really nice, Lainey! Steve, you can paint over that paneling and it will look terrific. I did that once in a rec room - antique white paint (of course).

Steve, you've already started ripping and tearing since Saturday night? Go, Steve, go!

Last night was the first night we could have used the kitchen to make a meal. By the time we finished putting everything away and cleaning up the rest of the house, we were tired. We called for a pizza.

We are well into our kitchen/family room make over. Paneling and paper is down, wall and trim repairs made, and we are starting to cover everything with primer.

COUNTER TOP ADVICE SOUGHT

I would love to hear from "re-modelers" who have strong feelings for any particular counter top.

There are so many choices today (stone, granite, tile, laminate, concrete, etc.) the selection for us has become frustrating. Prices are all over the board from from $40 to $160 sq ft. installed, depending on material. We are looking for something mid-priced. Presently we are considering a Corian like man made material (100% acrylic) called Meganite. It comes with a seamless built in sink made of the same material as an option (we are both very leary of doing this). Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with this stuff?

KITCHEN FLOORING

Things haven't gone much better here - too many options! We want a tile look and started out thinking we wanted something other than real tile... something that would be easier to stand on. Our first choice was a laminant, but we ruled that out and then looked into something called Dura Ceramic, and then moved to real ceramic, and now have picked out a porcelain tile. So much for the original plan. I have not actually signed the papers for the porcelain as yet. So any thoughts on flooring are welcomed as well.
