We put off installation until early June. Patty will be out of school and that way neither of us will have to take off work to be here. I wish I would have know that I was going to sit at home for 5 weeks. We would have planned installation sooner.
Yeah, but I am sure you would rather have not had to sit at home those 5 weeks. Glad you're on the mend. Also, Mikey was totally out of control this weekend at the Dragon. We really needed you there to keep things reasonably sane.

Well, one of these days, when i'm old and quiet enough,I would have to join you,Guys;maybe 2016 spring. :LOLDragon...:

Emil, there were about 20 Canucks at the Dragon this week-end, though none from Quebec. You still would have felt right at home!

Andersen it is. Contract signed this afternoon. We got him to reduce the original ridiculous price by about 58%. Even with that reduction we will still need to sell on of our first born. We just can't decide who has to go.

Yup. Never take their first price. They are the modern day tin-men.

Not sure what you meant by not being able to use "contractor windows". My job was apples to apples replacement measured and built for my openings. But maybe I don't understand your construction methods.
The windows that I saw at Home Depot and Lowe's all required a nail flange that is nailed to the sheathing under the siding and require that the rough opening match the stock sizes they had. I am not able to use the nailing flange without removing siding or brick. The only other way would be to drive screws through the sides or jams thus voiding the warranty and possibly warping the jams. As for the rough opening, I have four windows that are Andersen's but are not in there current available stock windows.

One big advantage I see with Renewal is that the installers are Renewal employees. If there is something wrong there is no finger pointing.

Thank you for the thread, David. I don't want to do my entire house but just two windows on my upstairs bedroom that face south. Now I know how to go about getting the best price for great windows. BTW, I already had to replace the french doors up there to the deck (termites) but don't remember who's it is. It's been a great door and I know it was a big name. I'll have to look for the paper work.

^I want to replace the two side windows to lessen the heat in the summer.

Look on the door, door jams and glass. One of them should have the door manufacturer's name on it.

I thought I already posted this. Wrong thread? It's a Milgard out of fiberglass.
