Lainey, just enjoy it! Look at the bright side you cant hate Bass, Jerry or Myself no more for having fridays off.

The longer the reduced hours last, the longer before you'll have to worry about retirement. ;-) Just kidding.
Seriously, I hope it doesn't last too long. My employer hasn't cut employee hours yet, but the IT contractors had a couple of 20-hour weeks recently.

Lainey, it takes a while for people who have no inside hobbies to adjust. I always have had them, so it's never been a problem.
Here's just a few items off my winter projects list:
Oil paint
Convert favorite old records to CD
Work on Genealogy; includes learning new software
Finish up some model cars I started
Read several books I didn't have time for in the summer
Work on MG club history DVD covering over 1/4 century; includes learning new software
Convert favorite old VCR tapes to DVD
Research and order items for MGA rebuild
Get ready to do taxes
Need I go on...
Oh, and I do clean the house, walk the dog, and shovel the snow - daily it seems
Never have the tv on during the day - the pc is a big enough waste of time.

I'm housebound a whole lot more than I like these days. I regularly exercise on equipment in the basement and read stacks of magazines for hours a day. We're doing some painting these days. I have been stripping down motorcycles, cleaning them, doing some maintenence, and putting them back together. We do more family meals now than during the summers. I drive to town more often these days and take my Dad out to lunch and drink a beer or two and chat with him. Time seems to go quick, and I mostly stay busy. However, I'm not very content or satisfied. +1 is much less restless than I. We'll watch some TV in the evenings. To be honest, I find winter less tolerable with every year. I walk regularly, but I skip if it's too cold, windy, wet, and nasty. I miss not walking. Though we stay busy, it sucks.
But, we are leaving next week for places way south for most of the next couple of months.

What do you retired folks do in the winter if you have "real" winter weather?
This comes to mind, though, if I did

Sums it up nicely.Dave, you do keep busy.
John, sounds like I'd feel the same as you if this was something more permanent. Have fun when you head to warmer weather.
OK, time to put the clothes in the dryer.

You're right about that retirement thing. It's just a pipe dream right about now anyway.
