Default Retirement in the winter.....

So, I'm working less hours for the next several weeks. I was off today and will be off tomorrow, and I'm not sure what to do with myself.

Weather is miserable, so outdoor activities are out.

The right arm is not yet "normal" (had a shot yesterday and more PT is scheduled) , so I can't do much around the house.

Forget daytime TV I like to read, but find I don't feel like sitting still. I helped Mom with her computer today, had lunch with my son and grandson, ran some errands, even hit the treadmill. Tomorrow I may visit a friend in the hospital, it's an hour's drive..

If the reduced hours go on longer than I think, I'll have to find a hobby.

I'm quickly realizing that if we ever get to retire, I need to head south....at least for part of the winter.

What do you retired folks do in the winter if you have "real" winter weather?

Maybe we should "do lunch." A cheap lunch though.

I was going to suggest a gym, but I see you were already on the tread mill.

I just bought Mrs. GM3 a Wii for Christmas and she really likes it. That gaming system is no where near as complicated as the others IMO.

you can only exercise for so many hours a day though.
since I've been rehabbing the knee i spend a good 1 to 2 hours a day working out. But that is in my basement gym in front of the TV.

the gym is good for the social interaction part if it is somewhere else other than in your house.

Read, clean house, cook 3 meals a day, do laundry, exercise on the cardiomax bike or the treadmill, crochet or do embroidery, grocery shop, run errands, this time of year I make homemade valentine cards, have lunch with friends occasionally, never finish and never get bored.

Lainey,
you want to know how bored I am?
I've been organizing my office.

Glad you enjoy your time at home, Val. I do some of those things, except crafty stuff. I have NO crafty talents. My sister got the craft gene.

At the moment I can't set a "routine" so to speak, as I'm not sure which days I'll be off. Things are still unsettled. I don't like unsettled. Basic stuff like laundry and light cleaning was done over the weekend. I'm sure if I look tomorrow, there will be more to do.

I've seen your office. You've taken on quite a challenge.
