I love that song about the Fitz. It was alway fun to watch the Fitz when it came into port. She was big in a time when most lakes weren't that big.

Gordon Lightfoot had Bells Palsy, a condition that renders part of the face paralyzed for a time. My best friend and roommate had Bells Palsy, also in the 70s, from US Army interrogation (and torture) training -- electric shock.

 

A co-worker got Bells Palsy, a long time ago. IIRC, it was from dormant Epstein-Barr virus (Mono) she had gotten in college. Her face looked like she just had a stroke.

I think stress can cause it. Like Shingles. It did resolve over time. She quit work... as this all happened after an attempted armed robbery.
