Rob's and my role as CO

The following is a description of the Moderator and Community Organizer (CO) roles as posted by cthree (Erik) in another forum. I thought it might help the members, particularly the newer ones, understand what Rob (ralper) and I are supposed to be doing out here as COs of Vintage.
"COs and moderators have similar jobs but they aren't the same. COs run a community within S2KI. Think of it this way. There is one "global community" encompassing what you see in the forums list. Those forums we manage and we do that with a team of moderators and site moderators. The club index page shows a list of local/regional/social clubs and communities. These communities are managed by COs, not by us.
COs control all of the content within their local forums including things like advertising and any special requirements they may have. They set their own commercial posting policies, their own management structure, their own culture. The only requirements we have of these "special communities" is that they follow and enforce the s2ki posting policy, the one you agree to when you register. COs may impose their own restrictions or rules above and beyond that. Each local community is different and they are all developed differently with their own politics, methods and rules.
You can be both a moderator and a CO, they aren't one in the same thing. In short, if you are a moderator then you report to us. If you are a CO you report to your membership."

This is very important. This is why Deb and I look to all of you for feedback and help in determining the direction of Vintage. Vintage is our (the members and preVints who post here) forum, and it is up to all of us to make it what we want it to be.

Deb, I couldn't find your info on the CO forum, but HondaGal's "stuck" post in that location has similar roles & responsibilities, which are excerpted below:

....The role of a Community Organizer is:
Developing a club "Community"
Establishing a club name with input
Maintain the membership list
Contact potential members you see on the street and online *build the club)
Develop relations with local sponsors and dealerships
Take the lead in organizing local or community events
If you are a large community or small, there is nothing written in stone that you can not have help.

This thread needs to see the light again since Rob has left the CO post.

You are right, Patty. Thanks for bringing this up. I've linked to it in the nominations thread.

You're welcome Deb. My husband and son went to Kauai for 6 days so I have more time to play and I went through old threads last night.
