Is the S2000 Appreciating?

Another way to look at this is that when you buy a very low mileage S, (under 10K miles) for maybe $20K - $26K you are usually getting an extremely low mileage unmolested S that will give you years and years of trouble free joy, and if you care for it and sell at maybe 60K you will lose some, but not a lot, in value.
I don't think this is the car I would choose to buy and put in a bubble. There are other cars out there that would be better investments for sure. Or, there is always the stock market. Silly idea I suppose. What fun is that?

In the fall of 2016 I bumped into a woman that noticed my S2000 shirt (from some event). She told me that in the spring of 2016 she had to sell her stock model year 2000 Berlina S2000 with 28K miles on it because she was recently divorced and need the money. Here in Northern Virginia (where I used to see two or three S's a day during my daily commute back when I was working) a dealer paid her $26,600 for it. Not bad for a sixteen year old car.
I firmly believe that they will appreciate in the future. Partly because once the older ones become affordable ($12-$15 K range) a lot of them were bought up by young people that grew up driving FWD vehicles. Think about how many post you have seen here about them getting totaled? Especially, the "tail happy" AP-1's.
So in the end, IMHO opinion it is not so much as how many were produced world wide, but how many survived?

It will be interesting to see what this one goes for.

looks good but ~120K on clock. if trend holds I'd say around 12kmaybe as high as 14 but it is November.

How vintage is Vintage?
I have my one owner original purchase S2000 purchased in April 2000. Factory original (except tires and a replacement factory top with glass window.
This car is garage kept and has 8500 original miles. I have been the only driver (except the mechanic once a year at inspection).
What does this group feel the value is? I say $30,000. It is like new.

I'll be interested to hear what folks say. We drive our cars and would not want to dish out 30K for a 17-18 year old car, even with such low mileage, but someone might.

I'd say you are within reason on the pricing. Low mileage Ap2's seem to do better value wise being newer models, but the AP1's have their own following amongst S2K enthusiasts. And there is always the exception, a 2003 S2000 with 885 miles just sold on Mecum for $71,500.00. Good luck on the sale, looks like a very well cared for car.

Well, here's an '08 with 8400 miles that's currently at $24K with two left on the auction.

i guess that will be a good first benchmark.
Although it is winter which is typically a tougher time to sell soft tops.
