S2000 to Cayman
An interesting thread on S2000 to Cayman switching. Nice to see no bashing and honest impressions.

Fun to read, Dave, and I agree that the comments were mostly even-tempered...giving due respect to the inexpensive and dependable S fun machine! I was surprised to read that several owners have had maintenance issues with their Caymans (Caymen?)
The YouTube Video posted near the end was a cool 6 minutes....liked the part at 4:40 where the S seemed to force the 911 to pull over (that driver seemed to like his brakes a lot....maybe doesn't know how to downshift
)

That 911 driver probably got a Blue Flag from the Start stand, and relented the position.
Many groups that run at Waterford (including our own Open Track Days) allow passing only on the front and back straights, and even then only with a 'point' from the passed car.
It's a very challenging and fun track, that emphasizes handling over raw power....so is actually well suited to the S2000.
Dave is right in that there are certain places that are rather unfriendly towards having an 'off', though ;^D

That was a nice read and you can tell the owners of both vehicles love them in different ways. If I had the money the Cayman would be my choice. For the money it is one of the best sports cars around just like the S2000. I really miss my S but maybe one day I can get another one. Working on a business venture and if it works out I may be back. Wish me luck.
Nice reading!
The Cayman is my favorite current Porsche car. It has beautiful lines and a great mid engine design. But it's hard to breath in there -- needs a top down possibility.
And the Boxster is just too ugly for me. Seriously I have been tempted, even look at pricing now and then. But my S still runs great and is still competitive; for now it's a keeper. Anything more serious is beyond my driving abilities anyway,
and I hear Cayman's are not that easy to work on.
