My township, Randolph, New Jersey, has an annual 4th of July "Freedom Festival". Usually there are rides, food trucks, vendor booths and games. The festival ends with a fireworks display on the final night. This year, the festival was scheduled to begin today and go tomorrow, Friday, July, 1 and end on Saturday, July 2. This year the Kawanis, who sponsors the event, decided to include a car show on the first night, tonight. There were to be 5 categories, Pickup Truck, Muscle Car, Modified, Domestic and Import.
Knowing that these shows usually are like the typical cruise night filled with American Iron and American cars hot rodded I didn't think that there would be too many foreign cars showing up. With that in mind, I decided to enter my S2000. The evening started slowly. Registration began at 3:30 pm. Because I live about 1 mile from the county college where the festival was held, I was early, the second car to registered. As I expected the cars started to flow in, but they were mostly American Iron. In the course of the evening, most of the visitors looked at the American cars but not too many seemed to be interested at the imports, especially the sports cars. That's how these shows usually go. By about 6:30 there weren't many imported cars. The judging took place at 9:00 pm. My S2000 came in second in the Import category. I beat a beautiful Volkswagen Beetle but was beaten by a circa 1970 Mecedes 280SL. Still, I was pretty happy to finish second and get my ribbon. And I had a nice evening had a few hours to talk to other car people and share stories with them.
You know what they say about 2nd place, being the first loser, lol. Okay, just kidding, lol . Congratulations, judging from the pictures there were some pretty cool cars there. The S2000 is a timeless design and you appear to have a nice example of a well maintained machine. Good work.
