This business of "places" by habit is actually quite interesting. You can throw a class into virtual havoc by arriving early and picking a new seat each time. It creates a ripple effect, and that person has to find a new seat, etc.

It's a good way to spice up boring courses (or courses with boring professors). HPH

A few times I've swithed seats in the staff meeting and no one seems to mind or even comment. However, I never take the Queen Bee's spot!

I sit in the front row so I can hear. I figure people who sit in the back row probably attend church regularly and sit in back out of habit.

They always sat us in alphabetical order. Having a last name that begins with Z I always knew my seat

Why is it all the good lines were always alphabetical except the line to get shots. Those were always in "reverse alphabetical order". -Mike Young

Before I became too well known among the students on campus, I used to get to class early and sit. I would then proceed to spread ugly rumors about the instructor (me) before class started.
