Even though I have about 40 pairs of shoes with various heel heights, I only wear flats these days (usually the same pair). Something about comfort seems to overrule everything else at this age. In DC, we wear sneaks until we get to the office. I used to think it was the dumbest look with suits until I had to make that walk from the train station every day.

Cole Haan slip-ons w/ Nike Air Sole. Most comfortable shoe I've ever worn that are somewhat acceptable for business.

Reebok DMX cross trainers for working out.

Merrell slides for casual wear.

Nike Air somethingorother for tennis

Reebok DMX golf shoes

Pilotis for auto-x/track days/karting

Future purchase - DMX trail runners for day hikes

Waterproof Nike Air whatchallits for serious hiking

Merrell leather sandals for kickin' it causually in the summertime

nike flip-flops for showering in the gym

Countless dress shoes for serious business

I've got more shoes than my wife does!

And yes - she has these perfectly formed size 5 feet with great toes/nails and a sexy arch... not that I have foot fetish or anything like that...

My ex used to call me Imelda also...I do have lots of shoes. Women have more variety in their dress than men do, so need more shoes. That's what I tell myself anyway.

I wear all kinds depending on the outfit but no really high heels anymore except when I'm really dressing up. They kill the feet. I have lately gotten into mules (also called slides). Sandals in the summer. And I love my Josef Seibel clogs and use them for walking instead of tennis shoes. They are incredibly comfortable and look good, too. I really hate clunky looking shoes and so many of them for women are. I wear my favorite shoes forever and have them resoled.

For THIS forum, I would think orthopedic shoes would be most appropriate!

Shoe stories.

1. As a kid I was terribly hard on shoes, especially dress shoes. I'd use my sneakers as foot brakes for whatever 4 wheeled go cart I had hobbled to gether with baby cart wheels, but dress shoes would get killed the first day.

I remeber one grade school episode where I decided to play kick ball with the new school dress shoes. After a few dozen kicks, some slides into first base, and jumps over the fence to retrieve the ball the shoes were a mess. My mother gave me hell all night.
