Another shot at the same time.

Fast forwarding to last year, she had really slowed down by age 12.

Donna was feeding her a special home made diet right up to the end.

This was taken yesterday.

RIP

I'm so sorry your beloved Golden is not of this earth. What was her name? I know the heart ache. I'll never forget Kyras and the knife in my heart missing him. I'm sure I'll see him again, though, on the other side.

She was a beautiful and much loved dog, I'm sure. Our sympathy. Losing a pet is so damn hard. Hugs to you both.

Meanwhile, our 8 yr old lil guy has become quite proficient at catching rabbits. He just caught up to, caught and killed one today that we had to take away from him :P They normally make it to the fence, but this one tried its luck one too many times! Hard to believe he can look so lazy sometimes, but be so fast when he needs to be!

Those pictures are wonderful, and I'm sure you and Donna have many happy memories of Brandy.

Animals have always been a part of our household. The first dog acquired soon after we married was part golden retriever and mutt and he loved playing with the kids. A tropical fish tank followed, then a second dog, a maltese, who didn’t appreciate kids. Then we acquired our first cat. Then a border collie, who we sadly had to put down per a vet’s advice. Then, a pure golden retriever filled the void and won over everyone’s heart. Then came a second cat but the first one out lived her. A second golden joined the household and it became clear to me animals were taking over the house! Within a few years a stray cat showed up followed by another set of stray kittens from the woods - one didn’t make it, but the second did, so we had three cats. The original lived until age 21. Our second golden was with us 13 years, during which time I surprised Donna with our third golden - Brandy was 13.5 years old when she left us yesterday. She was a proud and wonderful dog. While the house is empty we still have a purebred Friesian horse that the wife has not been able to ride for 9 years due to the horse’s mysterious back injury and an Appaloosa horse acquired five years ago, who is 17 yrs old and currently lame due to unknown reasons. She wll be transported it to Michigan State University Vet Hospital next week. Such is the life in our animal world but tonight only one is ripping my heart apart because from 2004-2011 she was with me 24/7 and I never experienced that before. So she was really my dog for the first 7 years of her life and the wife's for the next 7 years.
