Sweet! I'm having kitty withdrawals. All my cats are in Colorado. I've never been in this CA house without cats.

wow she is a beautiful cat. My cats love to walk on my laptop when I'm using it, like right on the keyboard , causing my internet page to disappear and go all wonky. I guess it is their way of telling me that I need to be paying more attention to them instead of the laptop.

I ordered this on Amazon. It's going on my Honda Crosstour. I'll put one on my Pilot, too. I think I qualify now that I have in one house.

That dog is not going to workout for us. We spoke at length with the rescue person. The dog loves to tear up cloth toys and other cloth items (Donna is always working on a quilt, needle point, etc. on the couch and she leaves the projects out), the dog is too sensitive to strong commands (NO!!), and of course our built in electric fence can't be used (that we could live with). So if you see us buying dog food its cause the 401k went into the crapper and not because of a new dog. Still looking.

Too bad, but you have made the right decision. Rescue dogs have usually been so traumatized it takes a long time to make them adoptable. It seems this dog has not reached that point.

Dave,
there is another path as well.
I don't know if it is in your area, but here we have NEADS which trains disability dogs.
frequently they have washouts. nothing "wrong" with the dogs but they didn't align with performing as a functional aide.
might be too easily distracted by a toy, or too energetic, or just just can't remain on task. let's call 'em jerry dogs.
usually a couple months old 5-6 and have already been house trained etc.
there are adoption fees but good dogs. we will likely be on getting on e list next year for my wife's dog.

Jerry, NEADS is locally based in MA. From the website: Each NEADS client commits to support NEADS by raising a minimum of $8,000 for the organization and the average cost of training the service dog is $45,000. Getting one that was cut from the program would, I would think, be a wonderful way to pickup a trained dog; hopefully for much less. While there may be exceptions, all the service dogs I have seen are large.
