[size=1][b]I thought he was a Burmese Mountain Dog at first. I think they are often confused. They are very lovable, but it is not advisable to have them around toddlers. Not because they aren't gentle, but because they are so BIG!!
He is a Bernese Mtn. Dog, but we just had him trimmed a week before so his hair is pretty short. He is about 130lbs. As for toddlers, he is gentle around them and senses thier "smallness"- in fact, they are one of the best breeds to have for children. He is currently in training as a therapy dog, and has been to homes for the elderly and sick children. They love him!

Here is a picture of what he looks like with his long hair...

Wow! What a great collection of beautiful pets you all have! I'll have to add a picture of Spanky, my pride & joy, soon.

It's great to see that so many of you rescued the animals from a shelter or other less-than-perfect setting. Kudos to you!

I adopted Spanky about a year and a half ago from the Humane Society and frequently wonder what his life was like before. I know that it can't be half as good as he has it now. His nick-name's "El Presidente"....so you can just imagine how he rules the roost! I firmly believe that Spanky looks at my husband and I as living in his house!!!

Triple-H & Russ, you really got my wife and I going here. We're both cat lovers; the two we have are rescues, along with our senior Golden Retriever, Chester.

I love the look of the Savannah, and would love to have one, but being an experimental breed I'd be fearful of long-term tempermant and genetic issues if we were to have one as a housepet. I'm going to have to see what Google turns up...

That said, we both fell in love with the Maine Coons!!! OMG what a gorgeous animal. I'm not sure I'd want to introduce another pet into the household right now with our dog, but I do see a Maine Coon in our future.

Yowzzaaahhh!!!

I'll have to take some photos of Linus, Patooty, and Chester tonight and post them...

Dean, I figured out how to post- only done it once. Go to MyS2000, then click the start button. Then click add images and you should get several boxes. Click on browse which lets you find the picture on your own computer. Click on it and add as many as it allows. When you have them all, click the "add images" button. Your pictures will be downloaded to the S2KI site. Whne you post on a thread "post reply" and you will see "insert photo from your album" That's basically it.
