Here is a Koi fish breeder.

and you thoughts cats were expensive.
My neighbors had several expensive Koi in their pond and thought of them as pets. They would place them inside an aerated tank with a heater the winter months, feed, sit, and speak to them during their captivity and return them to the pond in the spring of the year.

Can you imagine their horror when a Blue Herron paid them a visit? They’ve never fully recovered from their loss.

Gary

We had a pond in Acton with Koi, gold fish and blue gill. We also had German Shepherds so they were safe from the raccoons but other neighbors lost theirs to the raccoons. I forgot to turn the hose off when topping off the water once, or twice, and the tap water killed some of the fish.

^Zoro didn't mind what I did to him, ever. I could use the vacuum hose on his belly and he didn't care. I'd blow against his belly and he didn't care. The only thing he didn't like was to have his ears scratched. He'd shake his head. He's the only cat I've ever know like that. Looking back at photos of him I was surprised to see how dark his face became. Zion still has light fur above his eyes but he's getting darker all over, all the time.
^Daisy loves her belly (and everywhere else, including her ears) to be rubbed. Like I said, she thinks she's a dog. Never tried the vacuum hose on her, however.

We had a neighbor that had two blue herons go fishing for Koi in their pond. I like frogs but they would probably be fished too!

Here's my favorite cat. Fluffy and loves to be held. He really hates showers/baths.

He's called Thumper after that bunny from Bambi.

Just the angle of the shot. He's just 14 lbs.

My second favorite was Cartier. She never grew past 3.5 lbs, so she always looked like a kitten. Patch was 20 lbs and the mother of them all was 7 lbs. Sadly, they don't live with me anymore, but they were my little kids.

A 3.5 pound cat? That's tiny! I thought we had a small one with one who weighed 6-7 pounds on her "fat days."

Fourteen pounds is big to me. I've never had a cat over 12 lbs.

I know the feeling of losing your pets. My German Shepherds were my babies but my ex kept them when I moved out and wouldn't allow me to see them.
