Bitsa,
I used to argue ALL THE TIME in Vintage, but it's really not the place for it--unless Ralper gets too uppity and liberal on me . I then went to the political forum, but there are people there who actually believe that the CIA brought down the twin towers, we're in Iraq to fund the "friends of Haliburton", and other such silliness. So I migrated back here.
I was a surfer once upon a time--now I'm mainly a channel surfer. Unfortunately that's what people would say is my favorite "sport" , after looking at me. I also manage to make it out to Lancaster for a Willow Springs track day (or two) on my motorcycle.
Regarding Israel and Palestine, I'd be happy to discuss this with you in detail, but not in a forum dedicated to the memory to Simon Weisenthal. I'm sure you feel the same way.
Oh, and please discuss "sponging" further.

And as for the land having belonged to the "Palestinians" what history books are you reading? Palestine was the name of the land. It was inhabited over the centuries by Pheonicia, Canaan, Isreal (biblical Isrealites) Assyria, Babylonia, Persia, Macedonia, Rome, Sarecens, Seljuk, Tartans, the Crusaders, the Egyptians and Turkey. As early as 1897 the Zionists were trying to purchase Jeruselum from the Turks (who owned it at the time) to establish an Isreali state. Tell me please, who exactly are these Palestinians? In 1933 the inhabitants of those lands were Bedouins, Arabs, Druses, Maronites, Jacobites, Greeks and Jews (yes Jews). I have not seen anything that shows there was a race of "Palestinians" in those lands before the second world war broke out. And I thin we all know that many of the people on those lands now were moved there from places like Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt etc.
