Singing Groups heard in person by...
You guys get around!
Let's see if I remember some of my highlights...not so easy anymore for various
reasons...
Neil Young and Crazy Horse, 1978 - Cow Palace, SF - best show I ever saw.
Grateful Dead (3 times) : Oakland, 1979; Berkeley, 1983; RFK Stadium Washington DC 1988 w/Dylan and Tom Petty
Rolling Stones 1981 Candlestick Park, SF w/opening acts George Thorogood and J. Geils Band
Peter Gabriel, SF, 1982 -- he intentionally fell backward into the crowd and was passed around the first three rows. Cult-like atmosphere.
Amnesty International Tour, Philly 1988: Sting, Springsteen, Gabriel, Tracy Chapman. Highlight of the show: the roar of the crowd when Springsteen sang "Jersey Girl"
Live Aid, 1985: highlight: everything!
Strangest double bill: Eddie Money and the Ramones, 1978, Reno NV fairgrounds
Tangerine Dream, Warfield Theater SF 1980 -- the members played behind a translucent screen and never moved
Best multi-media concert: Laurie Anderson, Warfield, 1983
James Brown, 1983 - SF State Student Union. Mr. Dynamite!
...And a special "oops" award
to the stagehands who set up the Climax Blues Band's lighting tower at a University of Nevada appearance in 1978. The ENTIRE THING toppled over onto the drummer., who nevertheless emerged okay.
That's just a sample.

Loudon Wainwright III was probably the most engaging entertainer I've seen. Just a guy and his guitar, he'll have you rolling in the aisle one moment and shedding a tear the next. I believe "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road" was his biggest hit. He's still out there earning a living.

I've seen lots (I'll list them later), but the one I remember the most is Tina Turner, because I saw her 30 years apart! Once in college when she was with Ike, and about three years ago here in DC. Amazing woman...

I own EVERY Emmylou Harris CD (although she appears on about fifty others in backup roles).
Peter, Paul and Mary sang at the '63 March. So did Joan Baez.
