I am not going near that question as I was in the Army where one learned in Basic Training never to use the term gun. If one did, they would have to get up in front of the whole platoon, and receit the following while holding on to their weapon or rifle in one hand and their "gun" in the other.

This is my weapon (shake hand around with M-16 in it)
And this is my gun (shake hand around while holding onto your privates (nothing to do with one's rank at the time)

One is for killing,
the other for fun!
Matt,

Even though I wasn't in the military (to my everlasting regret) I had heard that before, and it is so true.

Exactly the same saying is used in the Australian Army. Call your rifle a gun and you're in all sorts of trouble.

Fortunately, I am a observant person (I attribute that to my being "left handed") Therefore, I learned that lesson from the "mistakes" of others and never had to receit those words myself. ;-)

[QUOTE=OhioRacer,May 4 2006, 06:57 PM] We took an overnight trip to historic Charleston South Carolina. Apparently there was a war there slightly before I was born. They still had a couple cannons by the water. I tried them on and decided that size really does matter...
