Looks like it's been a couple years since this subject was kicked around. With a new granddaughter scheduled to arrive in FL in two months I am thinking we need to sign up (otherwise I suspect I will be buying a lot of plane tickets).

I already have a built in web camera on the Mac. Are there any issues I should be aware of? Any feedback welcomed.

I do not have personal experience with Skype but my daughter and son both use it extensively. They have nothing bad to say about it and enjoy talking to friends/family live. My DIL uses it for convos with family overseas daily. She too loves it. Best wishes!

I think it is great. Sometimes there are audio or video issues, depending on where you are chatting to. But they are correctable. For instance, I chatted with my ex in Argentina not long ago and the video seemed to mess up the audio. We shut off the video and it was better.

My son and I Skype. Sometimes if the internet connection isn't great, you'll get some lagging and sync issues but it's a great tool.

The times I've used it there were internet issues on the other end that caused problems.

Congrats on the new grandchild! This is the first granddaughter isn't it?? Get your credit card out!!

I've used skype from time to time with my sis in ME. The connections aren't always the best, but it is a great way to stay in touch, and see the little ones.

On holidays we sometimes skype with the German side of the family in Hessen. I was surprised that it worked so
well crossing the pond.
