It's not a fabric. It won't stitch. I'll bet they know that. You release the tension off the top put a patch on the bottom side and when it tacks, push the edges of the rip together. If there's still a visible opening you use colored vinyl repair with just enough to fill the crack and you texture it by pressing a piece of woven cloth against it with a little heat behind it.

I'm talking to my contact at my Autonation/Audi dealership to see about a goodwill deal on my soft top. She used to be at the local Honda dealership but got promoted. She's helped me in the past in getting my 2002 headlights replaced because of the paint bubbling inside.

All done...guy did a great job. Used Yellow Super Weatherstrip to glue one patch about 4" by 5" to fit the section of the tear inside between the bars (also did the left side as insurance - no tear there). Then a little black silicone on the outside to cover the tear itself. See how long it lasts, but it looks good.

FYI: I recently purchased and installed (today) Modifry's soft top elastic straps, but only noticed during the installation that I ALREADY had a set on my top. Funny - I can't recall buying them, but then, I AM Vintage, right? So I can now state that Modifry's straps should be replaced about every 5 years. I bought the previous set in 2009 (coincidentally, right before the Tomcatt) and they are pretty worn out. I'm glad I forgot and ordered new ones.
